Ruben Mcneill (R) on The Candidate Spotlight on State House District 35

I had a great conversation with Ruben McNeill (R) candidate for Alaska State House in District 35, where he is going up against incumbent Ashley Carrick (D). This is certainly an uphill battle as District 35 includes the UAF campus and the area west of University, Ester, and Chena Ridge, which has traditionally been a blue part of the borough. Despite that fact if the residents in that area get a chance to talk to Ruben, I think they will find that he is someone who is sincere in his message and motives for seeking public office. His focus on election integrity is one of the most important things to me, and it should really have bipartisan support, if I were running, I would ask for my opponent to agree on an audit regardless of outcome. Opposing any election audit efforts is odd because it just makes you seem guilty, especially if you win. That’s just me, I also appreciate Ruben’s pro-life stance while recognizing that abortion is something that exists and regardless how we might feel about it, it’s not something we can ban, but restrictions should be extended. Ruben also talked about energy prices and resource development and that is one of the most important issues our state faces, we have an abundance of natural resources, yet they remain in the ground due to over regulation and federal overreach. I like Ruben’s common-sense approach and every-man attitude, its exactly the kind of mentality we need in Juneau, someone willing to cut wasteful spending and focus on necessities. Hope you enjoy our conversation, if you’d like to donate, volunteer, or engage with Ruben you can visit his website linked below, or follow him on Facebook at Ruben Mcneill or Ruben McNeill for Alaska, where he is active.
